2018-11-16

Authorities are investigating a November 11 incident in which a teen girl’s foot became trapped in an escalator at a downtown Indianapolis hotel, WTHR Channel 13 reports. A fireman who hit the emergency-stop button said the unit may not have been working properly, as “the handrail was not keeping up with the rest of the machine.” The girl was traveling home at approximately 1 a.m. after participating in a band competition when the incident occurred. The hotel issued a statement saying it makes every effort to ensure its practices and standards are in line with “strict safety and security regulations.” The girl's injuries are unknown.
