THREE RAILWAY STATIONS IN SOUTHERN INDIA GETTING ESCALATORS

Three railway stations in suburban Chennai, capital of the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, are getting at least 11 escalators, Express News Service reports. Serving a metro area on the Coromandel coast off the Bay of Bengal that is a cultural, economic and educational hub, the stations are Chennai Beach, which is getting five escalators; Tambaram, which is getting four; and Tiruvallur, which is getting two. Members of Parliament laid the foundation stones for the new units in the presence of senior railway officials on March 8.
